New additions

There have been some recent layer additions to the regional viewer.

Topographical
This theme is comprised of scale dependent data as follows:

  • Building footprints: This dataset is derived from the 2007/08 urban photography and is viewable from a scale of 1:8000 and larger.  Auckland City is currently being captured and will be added shortly while North Shore City was not captured.
  • Impervious surfaces: This dataset is derived from the 2007/08 urban photography and is viewable from a scale of 1:5000 and larger.  Auckland City is currently being captured and will be added shortly while North Shore City was not captured.
  • Kerb lines: This dataset is derived from the 2007/08 urban photography and is viewable from a scale of 1:25,000 and larger.  Auckland City is currently being captured and will be added shortly while North Shore City was not captured.

Datasets available

Layers and themes of data currently available in the ALGGi map portal are as follows:

A contextual base layer that can be toggled between the two themes listed below:

  • A terrain theme that is made up of the following datasets:
    • Digital Elevation Model (DEM) shaded relief which is derived from LiDAR (2006) data at a 2 metre interval,
    • River centrelines derived from a 1:50,000 data source,
    • Lakes as derived from a 1:50,000 data source,
    • Open space as zoned by Local Authorities (2009).
  • An aerial photography layer which is a combination of both urban specification (0.125m resolution) and rural specification (approx 0.65m resolution).

Base Region
This theme is comprised of scale dependent data as follows:

  • Place names,
  • Road names,
  • Addresses,
  • Cadastre (land parcels),
  • Rail centrelines and stations.

Contours
This data is ½ metre interval contours that are derived from LiDAR (2006) data.

Statutory Boundaries
This theme comprises a number of different statutory type datasets as follows:

  • Maori electoral boundaries,
  • Electoral boundaries (general),
  • NZPost codes,
  • RLTS boundary – this is the Regional Land Transport Boundary as administered by ARTA,
  • Auckland Region boundary,
  • Wards,
  • Community Board boundaries,
  • Metropolitan Urban Limits – this is the legislated boundary of urbanisation as per the Regional Policy Statement,
  • Territorial Local Authority (TA) boundaries.

Aerial photography index grids
There are 2 layers that relate to the grids of photography as flown for both the urban and rural areas.  These hold attribute information relating to sheet number and the date the sheet was flown.
